2/8/2021 0 Comments LDS scriptures and Abraham In addition to the Book of Mormon and the Bible, there are a few other Mormon scriptures that are often used in church. These scriptures do vary from one church to the next, but they all have a purpose to help church goers understand what is happening in the church. Some of the most common LDS scriptures include scriptures regarding missionary works, wilderness life, death, eternity, coming into the land of promise, and resurrection. If you are unfamiliar with any of these scriptures, then it may be helpful for you to examine some of their meaning. Book of Mormon scriptures are probably the most well known of the LDS scriptures. There are literally thousands of verses in the Book of Mormon, and it is often used as an essential teaching tool for ward members and those going out of town to serve. The book of Mormon tells the story of the rise of Jesus Christ, His birth, and His Crucifixion. After His resurrection, Jesus went back to Heaven, and from there He began His work of healing people and restoring their lives. Some of the most popular chapters of the Book of Mormon are Alma, Nephi, Genesis, and resurrection. Another popular piece of LDS scripture is the Pearl of Great Price. The Pearl of Great Price is also known as the Book of Commandments, because it contains many commandments given by God to His disciples. Many non-mormocrats might be confused by this fact. However, it is important to understand that the Book of Commandments is not what non-mormons are familiar with. The Pearl of Great Price tells us of the mission of Joseph Smith to restore the gospel in America. One of the more interesting LDS scriptures is the Doctrine and Covenants. This is a scripture that has much meaning to those who are members of the church. The Doctrine and Covenants teaches church members how to get in touch with God, how to forgive others, and helps church members make wise decisions. The book of Hebrews forms the basis for much of modern Jewish thought. It also forms the foundation of much of Orthodox Jewish and Muslim thought. Since it contains the Old Testament text, many non-mormon scholars have compared the Book of Hebrews to other ancient documents. While there is some degree of correlation, the data is not conclusive and there is no such thing as a direct correlation between the Book of Hebrews and the early Jews. LDS scripture also includes other worthwhile additions to the LDS doctrines. One such item is the Articles of Faith. The Articles of Faith form the backbone of what Brigham Young called the "Law of Sacrifice." The article of faith is also crucial in explaining the nature of the celestial kingdom and the plan of salvation. As the Savior made provision for his followers, it is important to remember that we need to take advantage of the promises made to us in order to be saved.
